Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary: Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs helicopter and airplane airframes in order to ensure airworthiness by conducting the task in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with manufacturers instruction and technical data, industry standards, and Federal Aviation Regulations. Tasks and responsibilities are reviewed by the Federal Aviation Administration during random inspections for compliance with all procedures and regulations. Airframe work includes major and minor inspection, alterations and repairs. Major components of the airframe are disassembled, repaired, and reassembled including wings, fuselage, empennage, vertical stabilizers, horizontal stabilizers, landing gear, flight controls, instruments, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, mechanical linkages, fuel systems, and structural components. Work is reviewed by the supervisor for compliance with FAA regulations and KHP procedures on an as needed basis.

Engines are disassembled, repaired, and reassembled down to individual components including cylinders, pistons, spark plus, valves, connecting rods, crankshafts, cases, accessories, lubrication systems, ignition systems, fuel systems, air intake systems, instrumentation, and controls. Work is reviewed by the supervisor for compliance with FAA regulations and KHP procedures on an as needed basis.

Records maintenance and inspections in the Aircraft Log Books to comply with FAA Regulations and Agency Policies;

Requests aviation parts and supplies to maintain an adequate and orderly inventory on all stock items to ensure prompt repairs for operational readiness. Tasks are reviewed by the FAA during random inspections for compliance with all procedures and regulations annually. Work is reviewed by the supervisor for compliance with FAA regulations and KHP procedures on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License.

Necessary Special Requirements: Specialized training and licensing in aircraft General, Airframe, and Power-plant repair and service is required.

FAA General, Airframe, and Power-plant certificate is required.

Minimum Requirements: 3 years as a licensed Airframe and Powerplant Aviation Technician.

Incumbent must be self-starter, self-motivated, task-oriented, willing to learn, and require minimal guidance and/or supervision. Must contribute as an essential team member, build and maintain effective work relationships. Advocate and contribute towards crewmembers' knowledge on aircraft systems and maintenance related topics and operations.

Preferred Qualifications: Aviation Inspectors Certificate with inspection authorization.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Ability to lift heavy aircraft parts and tools, inspect aircraft and detect visible and/or audible defects when evaluating it's condition, crawl into confined work areas, use hazardous chemicals, tolerate extremely loud noise levels, bend, stretch, twist, squat, stoop, push, and pull or reach with body, arms and/or legs. Listen, comprehend, respond, speak clearly and concisely verbally and in writing the English language. Must submit to an extensive background investigation. Must be free of felony convictions.
