Overview
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Field Engineer based onsite near Nashville, TN supporting our Acton, MA operations. The position will provide the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving active construction, including construction quality assurance (CQA) for various earthwork, water treatment, instrumentation, and civil and geotechnical construction projects. The selected candidate will also learn the business skills needed for a successful consulting and construction career through applications directly on a construction site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.);
Prepare daily field reports, weekly field reports, & progress reports;
Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
Conduct geotechnical field investigations;
Monitor heavy civil construction projects;
Perform and review engineering calculations;
Perform dam, levee, and CCR facility inspections and assistance with evaluations;
Develop construction documents; and
Write and review engineering reports.
Fieldwork: Up to 90%
Overnight Travel: Limited, if based in Nashville The intended project site is local to Nashville. However, other opportunities requiring travel may become available.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or geology. (required)
Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 2 years of work experience in engineering consulting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
