Industrial HVAC Technician

Job Description Summary

Responsible for performing maintenance and service for our industrial site-based HVAC/mechanical customers, utilizing our technology, technical capability, and exceptional customer service to provide customer-first solutions. Primarily responsible for performing installs, repair and maintenance to a variety of equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers.

Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time depending on position. Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures including very hot (above 90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F) and all weather conditions. Individuals may be exposed to: cramped work spaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day.  Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Individuals may occasionally be exposed to hazardous conditions, high places and /or hazardous equipment.  May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet.

• Understands the basic refrigeration cycle to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works
• Diagnoses problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot.
• Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging
• Applies basic electrical theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits
• Able to read basic wiring diagrams
• Understanding of Ohms Law and uses multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values
• Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits
• Able to treat air to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution
• Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings
• Diagnose problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance/troubleshooting
• Must be able to handle stress and job demands.
• Must be able to cooperatively work with others.

• 2 years of Industrial HVAC Service or 3 years combination HVAC Service and Maintenance Experience
• Universal EPA Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate preferred
