The Millwork Shop Foreman located next to our main office in Homestead, PA is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the millwork shop, ensuring custom architectural woodwork projects are completed on time, under budget, and meet Franjo Construction's high standards of quality. This role requires strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage personnel, resources, and schedules effectively.

What you'll do:

PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS

  • Read and interpret detailed shop drawings to guide the manufacturing process of custom architectural woodwork.
  • Oversee the production of various products, including:
  • Custom plastic laminate and wood cabinets/casework
  • Custom countertops (laminate, solid surface, etc.)
  • Custom desks (e.g., reception desks, nurse stations)
  • Benches, banquettes, wall paneling, and other complex woodwork
  • Woodwork finishing including but not limited to painting, staining, clear or varnish coats, epoxies, etc.
  • Operate and train team members on woodworking machinery and hand tools, ensuring safety standards are upheld.
  • Assembling, fitting, and securing components of casework and millwork, to provide the final product per documents and specifications

ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to project specifications.

  • Perform quality control checks to ensure products meet internal and client expectations.Additional tasks as necessary and/or assigned.

TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  • Supervise and manage millwork carpenters and shop labor, conducting regular one-on-one meetings to support their growth.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new employees or apprentices in collaboration with the Self Perform Division leadership.
  • Develop and implement training plans for team members to expand skills and capabilities.
  • Supervise and evaluate production personnel in collaboration with Self Perform Division.

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT & COLLABORATION

  • Work with the Self Perform Division and production staff to improve manufacturing processes and adopt lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Collect feedback from installation teams to drive manufacturing improvements.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are established and adhered to throughout production.

HEALTH, SAFETY, AND COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols in collaboration with the external safety rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all production staff and guests.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with the parties to maintain and repair equipment as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; a 4-year degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in woodworking, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Knowledge of production and manufacturing processes, techniques, and equipment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Cabinet Vision or equal millwork shop drawing compilation process, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and email/calendar tools (Outlook).
  • Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and margins.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
