TIG Welder Job Description This position is for a Welder/Fabricator/Machine Builder in a job shop environment. Candidates will be responsible for manufacturing equipment from start to finish, engaging in a mixture of tasks to ensure proper assembly. The role involves TIG welding, pipe fitting, machining, pneumatic assembly, and other fabrication responsibilities. Responsibilities Review blueprints and other specification papers before starting and during welding processes to ensure accurate completion. Interpret framing, isometric pipe, pneumatic, and electrical drawings. Select TIG welding equipment, such as torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to welding chart specifications or material type and thickness. Tack weld parts to ensure proper alignment and fitting of all order parts. TIG weld stainless steel structural square tubing per print specifications. TIG weld/orbital weld stainless steel tubing and piping per print specifications. Identify the need for machine maintenance and perform minor repairs. Conduct visual weld inspections using fillet gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and weld fixtures. Operate various shop equipment including manual lathes, manual mills, drill presses, and belt sanders. Essential Skills 3 to 5 years or more experience with TIG Welding and pipe welding. Experience with welding stainless steel from 16 gauge to 1/2" thickness. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and pneumatic diagrams. Proficiency in operating manual mills, lathes, and other fabrication equipment for accurate fitting of pipes and parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma preferred but not required. Trade school education would be a plus. Work Environment The work environment is a clean, medium-sized job shop.
