Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in ourPortsmouth, NH or East Greenwich, RIoffice. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and independent engineering professional with extensive experience in project engineering, infrastructure evaluation, and structural design. They possess strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and proficiency in various design codes and software, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and resolving complex field and design issues. With a proven track record in supervising staff, coordinating project schedules, and serving as a technical specialist, they are dedicated to maintaining excellence in their field and driving successful project outcomes. The Senior Structural Engineer contributes technical expertise to the successful execution of projects by performing the following duties:

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to their area of expertise.
  • Provides technical engineering expertise to project managers, engineers, and/or clients to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and/or design issues.
  • Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
  • Serves as the technical specialist on engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Assists in proposal preparation, project scoping, and estimating project costs.
  • Assists in coordinating project schedules and timely completion of projects.
  • Provides technical leadership to project teams and support staff.
  • Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments.
  • Serves as a coach for other project engineers and technical staff.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Stays active in technical societies.
  • Publishes engineering papers and/or articles.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Relocation is available

The base salary will be estimated between $135,000 - $175,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 12 years or more progressive experience in project engineering.
  • Experience with the evaluation and structural design of infrastructure including, but not limited to, waterfront structures, marinas, ports, energy and industrial facilities and/or bridges.
  • Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
  • Experience with various design codes including, but not limited to, IBC, AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI, ASCE 7, AWS, PCI, and AASHTO a plus
  • Experience with various design software including, but not limited to, STAAD, RISA, Revit, AutoCAD, and Mathcad a plus.
