Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electrical Supervisor to lead and oversee electrical maintenance and installation operations. This position is responsible for supervising electrical staff, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently, coordinating with other trades, and maintaining compliance with codes and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems (primary and secondary), excellent leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.

Under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the University of West Alabama, this position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Plan, schedule, and oversee the execution of all electrical maintenance and planning activities on campus.

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of electrical technicians and contractors.

Plan, assign, and inspect work related to electrical maintenance, repair, and new installations.

Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Perform hands-on electrical work as needed to support team operations.

Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide technical guidance.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

Participate in the planning and execution of capital improvement projects and preventative maintenance programs.

Ensure appropriate tools, materials, and equipment are available and maintained.

Collaborate with other departments, engineers, and project managers as needed.

Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce safety policies and procedures.

Mentor and train electrical staff to promote skill development and performance.

Perform hands-on electrical work as needed to support team operations.

Some overtime work will be required in cases of emergencies.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or in adverse weather conditions.

Must be able to respond to emergency calls and participate in an on-call rotation if required.

Transporting moderately heavy items at times.

Operation of University vehicles will be required.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum 2-year technical degree in electrical systems or 5 years journeyman equivalent with commercial experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Valid driver's license.

Dependable transportation.
