Our company is searching for a candidate to fill an open position at our Bolingbrook, IL office for a mechanical engineer. The candidate will have most of their experience and a strong background with HVAC design and drawings . Additionally, mechanical design experience with dust collection systems, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, fire protection, and energy conservation. A strong working knowledge of how current national and local code requirements are satisfied with a wide variety of experiences with industrial and commercial projects. The ideal candidate would also be responsible for managing / overseeing multiple projects for various chemical and food-based operations. The candidate would also be instrumental in building business development and maintaining client relationships. Requirements: Mechanical engineering degree from an accredited university or college. B.S. Mechanical Engineer (HVAC design) Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience working in the HVAC industry with experience in ventilation systems involving electrically classified areas and managing risk of flammable gases and/or vapors. Experience with industrial production site, large equipment supplier with turnkey capabilities or engineering design firms are all acceptable. Proficient in analyzing problems and identifying alternative solutions. Project management and or construction experience working for a mechanical contractor. EIT certification is a plus. Professional Engineer State licensure is a plus. Candidate must have good working knowledge of mechanical equipment typical in process industries and be comfortable sizing and specifying this equipment. Experience with Industrial chillers, duct design, HVAC, air filtration, pumping systems, and similar related systems is required. Diversity of background in several industries is a plus - especially chemical processing, grain processing, oil refining and/or gas processing. Experience specifying / troubleshooting a diverse array of common plant utility systems such as steam boilers, air compressors, hot oil systems, pumps and other industrial equipment is a big plus. Experience and knowledge of ASME piping codes, B31.1 and B31.3, ASHRAE, and SMACNA required. Experience leading small teams or supporting others in a multi-discipline engineering environment. Able to perform hydraulic calculations, in liquid, vapor or gas streams. Good Communicator - both written and oral. Proven track record of scoping and executing projects and developing project cost estimates. Comfortable working in projects in the $200k to $5 MM total installed cost (TIC) range. Able to work in the office or at a client site and conform to random drug testing programs. Candidates will need to be able to support occasional work at client sites where candidate may need to climb ladders to reach elevated platforms. Able to travel up to 15% of the time for clients visits beyond day trip distances. Must have a valid US drivers' license.
