Provides service and maintenance for all aspects of mechanical operations and heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration equipment in support the University mission.

Ability to use tools, meters, gauges and equipment correctly and safely
Welding and/or soldering skills
Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, and troubleshoot and repair problems of varied types
Understand basic chemistry, electrical basics, steam and water heating fundamentals, and HVAC & refrigeration basic cycles and principles
Knowledge of procedures for safe refrigerant and chemical handling
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to work performed
Refrigerant Handling Certification (Universal preferred), upon hire
Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
H.S. Diploma or GED required
Technical training in mechanical work evidenced by obtaining or ability to obtain Journeyman's Mechanical License (typically 3 years Technical Trade School) required
2-4 years progressively responsible mechanical experience including familiarity with varied HVAC systems required
WORK HOURS :
Full-time; Non-exempt
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal schedule on an emergency basis and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the immediate supervisor.
SALARY STRUCTURE :
Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $19.72 to $26.13 per hour)
