Jacobs is searching for a dynamic Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in El Segundo, CA. In this role, under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, youll lead the execution of mechanical maintenance activities. Youll supervise six mechanic technicians and 2 maintenance helpers for the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility (ECLWRF), its three Satellite facilities and the Hyperion Secondary Effluent Pumping Station. In addition, youll be responsible for following the work order process, assigning on the projects CMMS and ensuring all aspects of the work is documented in a timely manner while collaborating with the Scheduler/Planner, the I&C Supervisor, and the Operations Supervisor to schedule and plan for maintenance activities for the project. Lastly, youll be responsible for administrative duties to include purchase requisitions, receiving expense reports, approving timesheets, and other personnel matters. Youll be responsible for providing a daily maintenance report indicating work completed and progress for preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
Principal Areas of Responsibility
Prepare written daily maintenance activities report
Plan and schedule daily and periodic maintenance tasks
Direct technicians with scope of work and helps troubleshoot unresolved issues
Perform root cause analysis on failures resulting in loss of production
Schedule calibration of compliance flowmeters and water quality analyzers with external contractors
Order parts, materials, and consumables for the EIC team
Perform site walks to solicit contractors for advanced and complex mechanical work
Ensure timely and complete close-out of work-orders and maintains minimal backlog
Develop standard operating procedures for repetitive tasks to maintain consistency and quality of work
Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and procedures
Approve staffs work schedules, time sheets, and vacation requests
Provide training and development opportunities for Mechanical Maintenance technicians
Set periodic goals and conduct performance reviews for Mechanical Maintenance technicians
Enforce all department policies and promptly address performance issues
Enforce good housekeeping practices
Perform periodic safety inspection of facilities and identify unsafe conditions and near miss incidents
Observe all on-the-job safety regulations and promote safe practices, procedures and work habits
Complete safe work plans and job safety analyses on repetitive tasks
Register new assets on the CMMS and reviews O&M manuals to setup appropriate PM plans
Set up and maintain library of mechanical schematics and technical resources
Set up vendors for procurement and provision of services
Work closely with EIC Supervisor to timely complete multi-disciplinary projects
Assist with all Asset Management initiatives and recommended changes
This is a hands-on position and may require performing the work and duties of an Operator on a particular shift (e.g. board operation, field sampling, rounds and operations)
Direct the work of other Operators and mechanics under your assigned supervision
May train and/or assist in the training of Operators, OITs and assigned helpers
Other duties may be assigned

Five (5) years' experience in wastewater/water treatment operations and maintenance. A college degree with a major in science or engineering may be substituted for up two years of experience (AA one year, BS two years)
Valid CA Drivers License is required with no major infractions
Ability to perform mathematics at the level normally required in this trade
Knowledge or familiarity with regulatory safety standards- Cal/OSHA Hazardous Energy Control, Confined Spaces, Personal Protective Equipment, Fall Protection, Hot Work
Knowledge of and experience with electro-mechanical equipment - electrical valve actuators, AC induction motors, switches, solenoids, relays
Knowledge of and experience with rotary equipment - pumps, compressors, blowers, fans and gearboxes
Knowledge of maintenance concepts - preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance
Knowledge of maintenance, reliability, and asset management
Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling
Knowledge of spare parts management and inventory control
Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs
Experience utilizing CMMS systems for work management and documentation
Ideally, Youll Also Have
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
Associate's degree in related field is preferred
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
