Job Purpose

Leads projects and initiatives in line with site and business needs, tracking all stages to deliver on production, quality, health/safety/environmental, and cost targets. Projects and initiatives include capital, strategic, expense; and site, business, or company-wide engineering, HSE, or other unique requisites. Works independently with all project stakeholders to meet site KPI targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct the conceptual design, development, cost estimation, optimization and modification of existing production processes, in accordance with HSE and operational guidelines, site infrastructure, regulatory requirements and internal/international standards within project budget, in order to ensure efficient production processes and maximize the reliability, quality, safety, sustainability and efficiency of installations at the optimum level of costs. Communicate project progress to manager and internal/external stakeholders in a timely and organized manner.
  • Participation in the design stage, presentation to stakeholders, and calculation of the budget for new projects for the generation of Appropriations Request (AR).
  • Billing Control for compliance with the monthly budget.
  • Communication, coordination, and quotation with external suppliers and contractors, foreign and domestic.
  • Participation and leader for Hazard studies, job safety analysis, and process safety reviews. S
  • Support the SRE with HSE capex improvement plans to drive continuous improvement and to ensure site adheres to AkzoNobel and legal requirements.
  • Support site management with the systematic delivery of company HSE improvement programs, including SAQ, behavior-based safety (BBS), and process management systems.
  • Site coordinator for Management of Change (MOC) and implementing MOC for all projects.
  • Champion the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and ensure compliance with OSHA and AkzoNobel standards.
  • Evaluate and execute continuous process improvement projects and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Responsible for the Capital Investments Plan for the site, prioritizing projects with all stakeholders; coordinates the implementation of projects with HSE&S, Quality, and Production Departments.
  • Maintain, support, create, and follow all Engineering and Maintenance Policies and Procedures to ensure a properly trained, safe and efficient work force.
  • Ensures that all the tasks of projects at the plant are carried out, managing the personnel in their internal or external position (contractors and outsourcing) and ensures compliance of projects on time and budget.
  • Manage, design, and coordinate engineering capital projects, determining equipment specifications and planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Lead projects for continuous improvement and promote equipment engineering improvement with six sigma (ALPS projects) or kaizen events.
  • Manage resources to comply with the requirements for the Integrated System validated for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 from external partys audits.
Job Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or Similar; Project Engineer experience (Minimum 3-5 years desired)
  • Experience in a chemistry/coatings/resin plant and be familiar with implementing OSHA PSM. Experience executing and leading Hazard Study reviews, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and Management of Change is strongly desired.
  • Strong communication skills, Analysis and solution of problems, Initiative and decision making, and Leadership.
  • HSE&S knowledge and experience and experience in AutoCAD or similar, MS Project, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge and experience on ISO standards (ISO-9001, ISO-14001 & OHSAS 18000)
  • Knowledge and experience on Engineering Standards Design (electrical and mechanical)
  • Experience executing and leading Hazard Study reviews, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and Management of Change is strongly desired.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for these skills is: $89,000.00 - $96,000.00.This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
