Phantom Works is Boeing Defenses advanced design division that is responsible for designing, building, and testing the future capabilities for our Nations defense. The Phantom Works portfolio has grown significantly over the past few years, and we need to grow our team to solve some of the toughest challenges. This position is part of the Integrated Advanced Systems (IAS) team supporting multiple proprietary programs.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers for successful completion of both internal (IRAD) and contracted (CRAD) research and development activities. This role will be required to generate and track project metrics to ensure projects are meeting schedule milestones while executing within allocated budget. Ideally this individual would be familiar with Electronic Warfare (EW) systems to understand technical challenges the team is trying to solve
Position Responsibilities:
Lead team of engineers executing Internal and External research and development programs
Develop and track meaningful metrics to maintain program execution
Lead proposal responses for IAS technology thrust areas
Assist in portfolio level IRAD and Long Range Business (LRB) planning
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Berkeley, MO.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
3+ years as a Team Lead delegating tasking to lower level engineers
3+ years developing and tracking program metrics to track key milestones
Experience with IRAD planning
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active Top Secret security clearance
Familiarity with Electronic Warfare (EW) systems
Experience managing suppliers within a classified environment
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
