Sr Project Manager manages complex electric or gas projects including management of engineering, material acquisition, and construction aspects to complete projects as scheduled and within budget. Coordinates required engineering and construction resources, materials, tools and equipment associated with new customer work, system rebuilds, and maintenance and reliability projects to support system growth, and emergency response work.
What you will do
- Performs complex project management work for assigned process including understanding customer needs, selecting equipment and material, scheduling and coordinating all internal and external engineering and construction resources. Applies project management concepts to construction projects to facilitate the timely completion of work and prudent cost control.
- Oversees the field engineering resources in the design and implementation of construction and maintenance work.
- Interacts with customers regarding work performed. Also ensures customer interactions associated with other processes are handled promptly and efficiently. Works with account managers and serves on account teams as needed to ensure customer needs are met.
- Works with operations and construction managers to support the construction phase of projects. This includes managing crew productivity, ensuring the efficient execution of the construction process, identifying equipment requirements, removing barriers for construction crew, making arrangements for staging area, and other activities associated with cost effective execution of the work.
- Accountable for performance measurements, standards of associated processes, and utilization of information to improve process (e.g. cost control, scheduling execution, safety, etc.) across business unit. Assists in evaluating and developing standards for tools, equipment, vehicles, materials, and construction techniques.
- Understands and enforces rules set by regulatory bodies, e.g., Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Iowa Utilities Board (IUB), and Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) related requirements.
- Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and operating practices, encouraging safe work behaviors and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe work behaviors, maintaining a safe and qualified well trained workforce, performing training and coordinates training as appropriate. Responsible for the safe operation of assigned utility systems.
- Supports regional efforts during storm restoration, including but not limited to, management of internal or external construction resources. Responsible for being a contact to emergency government personnel. Acts as a decision-maker during life-threatening emergency situations involving facilities, people and property.
- Understands, interprets, and manages contracts with contract service providers. Maintains excellent relationships with contractors and effectively utilizes contractor crews.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in project management, business administration, engineering or related area Preferred
Required Experience
- 5 years of experience in project management managing medium to large sized, complex projects
