About the job:
As a Maintenance Mechanic at Nouryon, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment upgrades on a variety of mechanical systems throughout the site. You will work both independently and alongside other maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to support production goals and maintain high safety and quality standards. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to following Nouryon's safety and operational procedures.
In your future role as a Maintenance Mechanic, you will:
- Perform general millwright work, including repairs of critical equipment such as furnaces, reactors, boilers, high-pressure vessels, centrifuges, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and hazardous materials piping.
- Complete all aspects of maintenance for production equipment, buildings, and other plant facilities.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities and make emergency repairs as required.
- Repair and align rotating equipment to established standards, including laser alignment.
- Operate and maintain general maintenance equipment and tools, such as drill press, portable drill, torque wrench, and various hand tools.
- Responsible for rigging and crane operation.
- Maintain and ensure the good working order of all tools and equipment used.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Provide on-call coverage and work overtime as necessary to meet plant operational needs.
- Perform work in full compliance with safety procedures, including adherence to permit-to-work, LOTOTO, confined space entry, hot work, line break, crane operation, excavation, and working at heights procedures.
- Must be capable of wearing a full-face respirator and SCBA for certain maintenance tasks.
- Participate in Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) activities as directed by management or outlined in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
- Maintain 100% adherence to company policies, procedures, and life-saving rules as a condition of employment.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
We believe you bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited trade school curriculum or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of millwright experience in a chemical plant or similar industrial environment required; preference given to candidates with 5+ years of direct industrial chemical plant experience.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and repair skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and maintain rotating machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and hazardous materials piping.
- Ability to complete preventive maintenance activities, perform emergency repairs, and conduct equipment alignment, including laser alignment, to established standards.
- Proficiency in the safe operation of cranes and rigging equipment; ability to obtain Crane CIC operator certification up to 75 tons.
- Secondary welding skills required.
- Working knowledge of computer systems, including email, work order entry and confirmation, and storeroom inventory ordering within authorized company software systems.
- Ability to work safely in a chemical plant environment with adherence to all safety procedures and life-saving rules, including permit-to-work, LOTOTO, confined space entry, hot work, line break, crane operation, excavation, and working from heights.
- Capability to wear a full-face respirator and SCBA for specific maintenance activities.
- Participation in HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) activities as directed.
- Attendance required for all assigned training sessions, including process safety, specific equipment procedures, computer systems, and the LeMoyne Quality System.
- Competency assessed during the interview process; successful completion of a written and practical skills test post-hire required.
- Willingness to provide on-call coverage and work overtime as necessary to support plant operations.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Maintenance Manager and based in Axis, AL.
