Job Description The delegated design engineer will assist the professional engineer in designing steel frame connections, stair systems, platform systems, and other miscellaneous building structural items. This role involves preparing formal reports to effectively communicate design specifications and capacities to clients, reviewing fabrication drawings to ensure conformance with the designs, and communicating with the detailing team about necessary corrections or alterations. Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design and calculations for structural and miscellaneous steel systems of various buildings and structures.
- Evaluate designs for overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Adhere to applicable Quality Control procedures.
- Review fabrication drawings for conformance to design specifications.
- Provide accurate project status reporting to facilitate customer communication.
- Assist in the development of engineering tools and processes.
- Review requests for engineering services to ensure that adequate information is provided to complete the service.
- Generate required engineering reports and drawing redlines.
- Maintain project timelines and communicate effectively with peers and management on project status.
- Solve problems related to fabrication and field items that arise post-design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural engineering design.
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis.
- Light experience with structural design software for buildings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Academic exposure to RISA is useful.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
