Position Summary:
The Safety Manager is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and managing the company's health and safety programs. While the primary focus is on the construction division, this role may also support the utility division as needed. The Safety Manager plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, client-specific, and internal safety policies and procedures
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of corporate and site-specific health and safety programs
Conduct job site safety observations and audits
Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments
Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, vehicle collisions, and safety concerns
Lead or participate in post-incident reviews to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors
Develop, review, and update site-specific safety plans and documentation
Provide regulatory guidance to project managers, foremen, and other supervisory personnel
Collaborate with field personnel to integrate safe work practices into training and operations
Communicate regularly with the Health and Safety Department on incidents, field updates, and observations
Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives
Travel regularly to various job sites within the company's operating area
Maintain a strong sense of urgency, leadership, and accountability in all tasks
Qualifications:
Required:
OSHA 30-hour certification
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in problem-solving
Experience in conducting safety investigations and delivering safety training
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards
Preferred:
Experience in construction, particularly in safety leadership or supervisory roles
Associate degree or higher in Safety, Construction Management, or related field
Military or contractor experience in safety or trades
OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer Certification
Working knowledge of federal and state safety regulations
