PositionTitle: Project Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to lead and support infrastructure and development projects across the utilities, construction, and waste management sectors. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong technical background, proven project management skills, and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. This role will also be responsible for identifying opportunities and driving growth within the division. A PMP certification is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee engineering projects from concept through completion.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, environmental compliance, and business development.
Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Identify and proactively mitigate project risks and issues.
Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals and client presentations.
Maintain documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a key contributor to the strategic growth of the division by identifying new opportunities and driving initiatives forward.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
5-7 years of relevant experience in utilities, construction, or waste management.
PMP certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD tools.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with municipal or government contracts.
Familiarity with environmental permitting and sustainability practices.
Exposure to business development or client-facing roles.
