DOTD EMPLOYEES: Refer to appropriate EDSM directive for required structured training requirements and PPM # 59 Workforce Development on training guidelines. This position may be filled as a Detail to Special Duty or a Probationary Appointment requiring 6-24 months on probation.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

15% INSTALL, MAINTAIN AND REPAIR SINGLE AND THREE PHASE ELECTRICAL SERVICES INCLUDING STEP-DOWN TRANSFORMERS, SERVICE PANELS AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS.

15% TROUBLESHOOT, INSTALL AND REPAIR ELECTRIC MOTORS AND RELATED MOTORS, STARTERS, RELAYS AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND CONTROLS ON ALL OF THE DISTRICTS FACILITIES INCLUDING ALL OF THE BRIDGE SPAN DRIVE MOTORS, BRIDGE SPAN LOCKS AND BREAK MOTORS, HYDRAULIC AND WATER PUMP MOTORS, TRAFFIC GATE MOTORS AND SELSYN SENDING AND RECEIVING UNITS.

15% SERVICE, TROUBLESHOOT AND REPAIR CONTROL BOARDS AND CONTROL CIRCUITS INCLUDING ELECTRICAL SPEED CONTROL, RELAYS INCLUDING PHASE FAILURE RELAYS, LIMIT SWITCHES AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENT BYPASS CIRCUITS.

15% PERFORM ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR TO ALL SYSTEMS ON THE DISTRICTS MOVABLE AND STATIONARY BRIDGES AS WELL AS THE DISTRICTS TUNNELS, UNDERPASSES, NAVIGATION LOCKS, INCLUDING SERVICE AND REPAIR TO GENERATORS, TRANSFORMERS, ELECTRICAL SERVICE PUMPS AND ROADWAY, NAVIGATION AND HOUSE LIGHTING.

10% TROUBLESHOOT, SERVICE AND INSTALL REVERSING STARTS, UNDER VOLTAGE RELAYS AND MULTI-BREAKERS, BOTH SINGLE AND THREE PHASE.

10% SERVICE AND REPAIR ELECTRICAL FACILITIES ON ALL THE DISTRICTS BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS INCLUDING GENERATORS, TRANSFORMERS, AIR COMPRESSORS, AIR CONTIION UNITS, LIGHTING AND ELECTRICAL.

10% INSTALL CONDUIT OF ALL SIZES AND RUN WIRE OF VARIOUS SIZES AND VOLTAGE RATINGS IN CONNECTION WITH ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN THE DISTRICT.

5% TROUBLESHOOT, MAINTAIN AND REPAIR OTHER ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN THE DISTRICT AND OTHER FACILITIES AS NECESSARY.

5% PERFORMS ANY ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO EMERGENCY/DISASTER SUPPORT ACTIVITIES.

Position-Specific Details:

Trades Apprentice $16.06 hourly

Electrician $19.67 hourly

A valid Louisiana Class D Chauffeurs License is required.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trades Apprentice or Electrician depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum monthly salary for the Electrician $6,136.00.
