**Job Description Summary:**

Under the directions and supervision of the Director of Parks and

Maintenance, the Park Foreman will supervise, schedule, and assign work

to be performed in the parks and facilities on a day to day basis:

assist with planning, organizing, and directing activities related to

the maintenance of parks and facilities; participate in short-term and

long-term planning for the department; and assist with day to day and

project labor. This position requires a blend of administrative,

coordination and managerial skills to ensure efficient operations and

improvements within the Parks Department. This is an at-will position.

**Job Description:**

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:**

Plan, organize and supervise the work of assigned employees engaged in

specific work assignments; plan and schedule day-to-day and week-to-week

work based on the needs of the Director of Parks and Maintenance.

Assist in development of goals and objectives, operating procedures,

preparation and monitoring of budget and expenses.

Participate in the hiring process, lead, and train seasonal-Full and

part time staff, and assist with staff evaluations.

Maintain responsibility for requisitioning necessary supplies and

equipment, or general services to adhere to a satisfactory work

schedule.

Maintain accurate records and reports as required.

Develop, maintain and adhere to preventative maintenance programs with

Director, including scheduled safety inspections.

Inspect grounds and work areas for appearance and safety; suggest means

for eliminating deficiencies and improving park facilities.

Keep the Director adequately informed at all times of daily activities,

problems or changes in plans.

Operate a variety of specialized equipment in connection with

maintenance, repair and construction of park facilities, including but

not limited to mowing machines, snow plows, tractor, trade power tools

and manually operated tools.

Maintained licensed pesticides

Keep assigned equipment in operational order by making repairs and

adjustments.

Perform routine mechanical and service work as directed.

Adhere to and actively enforce safety procedures of the District and its

overall risk management program.

Perform other duties as required or assigned, which may include acting

as a lead worker for a crew of laborers and/or seasonal staff.

Cooperate with all departments and fellow employees to obtain superior

results to the districts goals and objectives.

Perform snow removal, landscape maintenance and other duties when

required as needed.

Work around the general population and park patrons in public areas.

Maintain the facilities in a clean and safe environment for patrons and

employees.

Perform all functions of the position in compliance with Districts

policies, procedures, work rules, and employee manuals.

Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties

performed and support all aspects of the Park Districts safety and risk

management program.

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the

public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.

Promote Park District facilities and programs.

Maintain a positive public appearance.

Maintain a neat, clean and organized workspace.

Responsible for special projects assigned.

Employees may be called upon to perform other duties in addition to the

**KEY COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

1\. Requires working knowledge of the operation, maintenance use, and

training of heavy motor equipment in general construction and

maintenance activities, working knowledge of the occupational hazards

involved and the safety precautions necessary in the operation of heavy

motor driven equipment.

2\. Requires ability to schedule, direct, supervise and train park

staff.

3\. Requires ability to understand and follow oral and written

instruction.

4\. Requires ability to service equipment used and detect operating

defects, must adhere to preventative maintenance program.

5\. Physical strength and agility to perform strenuous laboring tasks,
