Job Summary:
The Farm Nutrient Equipment Operator manages the litter in the manure barns including placement, turning and drying, blending, and taking samples to monitor quality and process effectiveness . Operate s loader s and other equipment to unload, manage inventory, blend fertilizer and load trucks and is r esponsible for repair and maintenance of equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Handles the blending of materials used for composting of spent hens and mortality
Inspects and maintains all equipment
Transport s supplies and equipment from location t o location
Take s samples of manure coming out of houses for laboratory analysis
Take s daily moisture samples
Tracks loads , calculate s total tons, check s and mark fields, and guide s trucks to proper locations
Performs other functions including site and equipment maintenance as defined by the supervisor
Assists as needed during spring and fall fertilizer seasons with equipment moving and maintenance
Backup:
A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Valid drivers license
Mechanical and heavy equipment knowledge
Ability to d rive tractors, front-end loader, pay-loader, skid loader, scat machine and trucks
Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely
Awareness and knowledge of surroundings in relation to climate, atmosphere, and equipment
Hand/Eye/Foot Coordination
Independent Self Starter/Team Player
Attention to detail
Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
Intermediate English: speaking, reading, and writing
Mathematical skills: General Arithmetic/Basic Algebra/Percentages/Fractions
Preferred:
Valid state motor vehicle operators license, CDL or other DOT qualifications for operation of a commercial motor vehicle
