Refrigeration Technician

Responsible for installing, operating and maintaining seafood processing plant refrigeration systems; and will provide oversight and accountability for ammonia safety programs and equipment. Responsibilities include:

Install Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration Systems in new buildings.

Operate all plant Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration Systems in a safe and reliable manner.

Perform preventative maintenance and system repairs as needed to keep equipment in good working order.

Identify and develop candidates from current plant maintenance staff for an assistant role that will seek to provide operational coverage of refrigeration systems during the off hours of the lead operator / technician.

Write routine reports and correspondence using Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel.

Assist with maintenance and repair of non-refrigeration related plant equipment as time and primary duties allow.

Lead, review, and strive for continuous development and improvement of safety programs related to ammonia and freon refrigeration.

Ability to troubleshoot electronic field devices and PLC systems as related to refrigeration systems.

Be on call during peak processing seasons to respond to emergencies or critical system failure.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, or foreign equivalent; and 5 years of experience as a Senior or Lead Refrigeration Technician. Demonstrated experience must include industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and Freon condensing units in a food processing environment.
