About the role:
The key role of a Design Engineer is to provide overall support to the Reman Drivetrain Product Team. In this role, the Design Engineer will gain knowledge of the entire Reman Drivetrain product line along with an understanding of the remanufacturing process. The role will also include some project work, which will usually be of short duration and work results will affect those working on the same project or assignment. Challenges include applying theory, learning procedures, and understanding the technology.
In addition, the Design Engineer will take responsibility for Engineering Change Management for the group. The individual will provide change management process leadership through proper engineering change control and coordination. The candidate will be responsible for prioritizing the implementation of
product changes from the engineering design teams. This role requires innovative and motivated individuals to collaborate with peers and leadership to drive continuous improvement. This position provides great cross functional exposure, as you would be working with various internal teams from Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing.
What you will do:
- Assist team members in the evaluation of new products, processes, or systems
- Manage day to day group activities with the EDCI team
- Perform engineering print maintenance/management
- Support manufacturing and operations groups as first line product support.
- Support team members in on-going life cycle activities, including product cancellations, part consolidations, etc.
- Support the facility safety initiatives
- Collaborate with facility groups to manage and execute implementation of engineering changes at Reman facility
- Develop and maintain a robust change control process to minimize negative impact to inventory
- Maintain and track current Reman Components
- Identify engineering changes that will impact core material
- Identify required processes that may be required to maintain current core inventory
Education Requirement:
- Requires a bachelors degree in engineering curriculum, preferably Mechanical or Agricultural.

- Technical Excellence: Working knowledge with given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Working knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
- Product Design MFG: Working knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.

- Knowledge of current Reman manufacturing specifications, practices, and processes.
- Working understanding of the various manufacturing/logistics systems and how they Interrelate.
- Working knowledge or Caterpillar engineering systems such as PRWB and Creo
- Engineering Print Release Processes knowledge
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- Caterpillar Lower Powertrain, Transmission, Hydraulic System, or Torque Converter Design and Analysis experience
- Manufacturing and Test related experience
- Structural Fatigue Testing experience or exposure
- Awareness of APQP, Team Center, or Work flow processes and tools

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
