The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. It is located in District 58/Unit 580, reporting to the LaSalle Parish Maintenance Office in Jena, LA. We are looking for a Mobile Equipment Operator that is self-motivated, able to perform tasks with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. As a Mobile Equipment Operator, you will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

Job Duties:

50% Operates the following heavy equipment, as needed:

• Asphalt Distributor (truck mounted)
• Backhoes
• Front end loaders
• Bucket/ladder trucks
• Cranes/draglines (lifting capacity >20,000 lbs. but Position-Specific Details:
  
  Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
  Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, 2, or 1/Heavy. A Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for Mobile Equipment Operator 2 and 1/Heavy. Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday.
  Compensation:
  • Mobile Equipment Operator 1 : Starting salary is $16.06/hourly ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
  • Mobile Equipment Operator 2 : Starting salary is $17.18/hourly ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.
  • Mobile Equipment Operator 1/Heavy : Starting salary is $21.05/hourly .
