SUMMARY

Carry out work including inspection, planning, preparation and cutting, inspection, checking/testing; to fabricate, repair, maintain and install metal item, checking/testing whilst performing the allocated tasks to meet applicable safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines and to maximize productivity and profitability, while using an orbital TIG machine. Checks work using various measuring instruments; adjusts equipment, replaces tooling as needed, maintains quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Measure and align work pieces using straightedges, clamps, calipers, and tooling
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, schematics, and codes
  • Oversee the set-up of equipment
  • Operate tools such as arc welders, buffing machine, borescopes, and orbital TIG welders
  • Ensure welding operations meet set specifications and construction requirements
  • Maintain good working knowledge of the welding characteristics of steel
  • Fill tubes with water/air and submerge in water to identify tube leakage
  • Ensure compliance with established health/safety policies and regulations
  • Carry out preventative maintenance of machines
  • All other duties as assigned
