The Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology in the College of Science & Technology welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly or creative work and department and university service. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.About the position:
Based upon expertise of the successful applicant, primary responsibilities will include teaching lecture and/or laboratory-based courses such as: Construction Project Management, Statics & Strength of Materials, Green Buildings & Sustainable Systems, Construction I, Construction II, Engineering Visualization, Architectural Drawing, Production Materials & Processes, or introductory drafting courses. Additionally, the position requires advising students; conducting scholarly work; and providing service to the department, university, and community. All members of the faculty also have the responsibility to accept those reasonable duties assigned to them within their fields of competence. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs.
Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

- Copies of registrar-issued unofficial transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress (the successful candidate will be required to provide registrar-issued official transcripts from the issuing institution(s) directly to the Provost's Office by the start date).
- Three current letters of reference, (applicant to submit names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of individuals who will be contacted to upload current letters of reference directly to a confidential website).

Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Construction Management, Technology, Education, or related field completed by date of eligibility for reappointment to second year (ideally 12-31-26).
- Expertise in construction management/construction technology along with the ability to teach some combination of laboratory and lecture-based courses essential to sustaining the program.
- Earned technical undergraduate degree in construction technology, construction management, industrial technology, engineering technology, applied engineering, technology management, technology and engineering education, or construction-related discipline.
- Willingness and commitment to supervising, maintaining, and improving laboratory facilities.
- Willingness and commitment to teach in a laboratory-based, hands-on teaching/learning environment and teach day, weekend and evening courses as well as in a variety of formats including online as required.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in the application of information technology relevant to the teaching and learning process.
- Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Commitment to the promotion of a safe and healthy learning and research environment.
- Commitment to the involvement in and support of student organizations.
- Commitment to work cooperatively with colleagues.
- Successful interview.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Construction Management, Technology, Education, or related field.
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Industrial experience in the construction field.
- Documented effectiveness in teaching or training.
- Secondary expertise in project management, computer-aided drafting & design (CADD), architecture, or materials processing.
- Experience supervising, maintaining, and improving laboratory facilities.
- Experience participating in and/or advising student clubs.
- Experience with program assessment and accreditation.
- Involvement with professional associations such as Association of Technology Management & Applied Engineering (ATMAE), Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), etc.
- Supervision of interns and/or student teachers.
