TAMKO is seeking a Shift Supervisor at our Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility to lead all shift activities related to Production, Support Services, Quality, Maintenance, and Shipping. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for cultivating a dedicated team culture and ensuring efficient and safe operations aligned with TAMKO's standards and practices.

  • Promote a shift culture centered on Safety, Quality, and Teamwork
  • Foster healthy team dynamics consistent with TAMKO's core values: Humble, Hungry, and Smart
  • Apply TAMKO's Playbook and Playlist to guide decision-making and daily execution
  • Lead investigations and response efforts related to safety incidents, quality deviations, or team performance issues
  • Direct and oversee all phases of asphalt-based roofing product manufacturing
  • Collaborate and manage shift operations in coordination with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Shipping departments
  • Execute the Plant Emergency Action Plan promptly and effectively
  • Develop, adjust, and execute the weekly Production Schedule to meet demand and efficiency targets
  • Implement Supervisor Focus Items and the Process of Productivity to drive continuous improvement
  • Delegate workload, set daily priorities, and lead team accountability
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and skills development aligned with plant expectations
  • Support operators with troubleshooting and procedural enforcement to minimize downtime
  • Ensure compliance of all safety policies and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain consistent application of 5S and housekeeping standards across the production floor
  • Uphold quality specifications by minimizing variation in processes and identifying root causes
  • Complete end-of-shift reports, maintain timekeeping accuracy, and manage attendance
  • Operate production equipment as needed to maintain line flow or cover short breaks
  • Support and execute assigned improvement projects and initiatives as directed by the Line Manager

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Five or more years of verifiable experience operating manufacturing equipment preferred

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dust and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
