Position / Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary:

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical

skill and knowledge (Be proficient in such trades as mechanical maintenance, electrical,

painting, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry work.

Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned.):

  • Performs maintenance skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and or hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors
  • Ability to handle complex repairs with minimal supervision, with an ability to train others
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all equipment from blueprints, technical manuals, or vendor specifications.
  • Maintenance involves electrical, electronics, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment to meet or exceed company established expectations and corporate quality expectations.
  • Assist with installation, testing, and validation of new equipment and facility development projects.
  • Perform routine cleaning of facilities and grounds.
  • Conduct and record periodic inspections of facilities and equipment, as scheduled.
  • Maintain maintenance documentation, maintenance history, and all other appropriate documentation for all projects and corporate equipment repairs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Hospital maintenance experience required (3+ years preferred)
  • Hospital life safety experience required including regulatory documents
  • Experience with HVAC, building, equipment and utility maintenance
  • Ability to provide maintenance responsibilities and the use of power and hand tools
  • Experience with all building trades preferred (Drywall Repair/Painting Included)
  • Electrical proficiency preferred
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English and be a self-starter
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in skill area as indicated by verifiable training and/or experience
  • Must be 21 years old

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and upkeep on refrigeration equipment, electrical facilities and plumbing.
  • May need to periodically travel to the outbuilding facility.
  • Perform alterations and additions that can be accomplished by the maintenance department.
  • Assure that safety measures are established and maintained consistently according to Hospital Policy and governmental regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • (3) years related experience in a health care environment, and any federal or state required licenses and certifications

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • None specifically required, refer to years of experience in the job classification and responsibilities. (Would prefer Universal EPA License)
