Haskells Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the structural design of basic elements for assigned projects. Your work will be of increasing complexity to meet eligibility requirements to take the professional licensing exam.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates work with other disciplines
  • Performs some interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications
  • Participates in bid reviews when requested
  • Construction Support
    • Responds to all RFIs and reviews submittals for compliance in a timely manner
    • Participates in appropriate preconstruction/preparatory meetings
    • Prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings
    • Reviews all structural related testing and inspection reports
  • Performs site visits & prepares observation/follow-up phase reports documenting progress and deficiencies
  • Communicates effectively with external/internal Customers and staff in a professional manner conveying pertinent project information as required. Attends project meetings as requested
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
    • Completes all assigned work on time
  • Monitors projects for scope creep and reports changes to the Design Project Manager
  • Professional Development
    • Desires to become registered as a PE then SE (Structural Engineer)
    • Attends training provided by senior staff to improve base knowledge
    • Actively participates in local professional organization(s)
    • Improves ability to use all structural design, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software
  • Leadership
    • Participates in management and leadership training as requested by Group Lead and/or Chief Structural Engineer

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university in engineering or other degree related to the structural engineering profession
  • Masters degree from an accredited university with a focus in structural engineering
  • Proficient in Revit or AutoCAD
  • Proficient in one of the following structural softwares: RAM Elements, RAM Structural System, ETABS, and/or SAP2000
  • Fundamental proficiency in analysis and design of building structures - mainly in reinforced concrete and structural steel
  • Fundamental proficiency in the use of IBC and ASCE 7 as well as ACI 318 and AISC 360

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
