Division Overview:

Crown's Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Purchasing Agent responsibilities would include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Prepare or edit purchase requisitions from various personnel. Review requisitions to verify accuracy of specifications, account codes, commodity codes and item codes.
  • Support and partnership with PM&R group for product selection, price negotiations and purchasing decisions.
  • Contact vendors for comparative quotes; Assures proper evaluation of vendors for best cost /best business practices for sourcing
  • Create purchase orders for the acquisition of materials utilizing best cost / business practices for sourcing and following Company process and authorization matrix
  • Place orders with suppliers or vendors and ensuring that documentation is in order, with terms and conditions being clear.
  • Schedule or expedite deliveries of goods and services and obtain confirmation. Secure most cost-effective delivery method for sourced materials
  • Provide backup support for Storeroom Attendant
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed within department and across plant
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of previous similar work experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time
  • Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
  • Proven work history in the ability to keep accurate and up to date records.
  • In-depth working knowledge of all components of the Microsoft Office software
  • Working experience using an AS400 system is a plus

  • Proficient data processing skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as skilled at relationship building with vendors.
  • Manages multiple vendors to effectively source materials
  • Work collaboratively within a team as well as independently and
  • Actively engages in team work to help solve simple and complex purchasing and other business problems
  • Handle concurrent multiple complex tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Solid Lean experience with hands-on familiarity and incorporates lean thinking and Kaizen principles in purchasing work.
  • Performs all job duties and responsibilities according to job-specific safety guidelines; wears all appropriate PPE.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions:

  • Generally works in an office, and on occasion in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic.
  • Production noise level is frequently loud.
