Manufacturing Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is a key technical contributor responsible for overseeing and managing the engineering elements of a project throughout its lifecycle. This role ensures the successful translation of engineering designs into practical applications, maintaining technical integrity, adherence to standards, and alignment with project goals. The Project Engineer collaborates closely with various stakeholders, including design teams, construction/manufacturing teams, clients, and suppliers, to resolve technical challenges, optimize processes, and deliver high-quality results within specified constraints. They are instrumental in ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest technical standards.

What you will do:

  • Support the design, specification, installation, start up, troubleshooting, and improvement of packaging equipment and systems.

  • Develop all aspects of project management; project definition, project planning, capital expenditure management, and technology transfer associated with capital projects, new materials, and new products conferring with management.

  • Support the technology transfer for the packaging/finishing area and supports plant engineering with implementation of new capital projects, new packages, and packaging features.

  • Develop and maintain specifications, technical documentation, and procedures for processes and equipment which are consistent with Factory Performance and Reliability goals and support Quality and Safety Standards.

  • Develop, validate, and transfer factory SOPs associated with new products, packaging, and process improvements.

  • Support the development and implementation of process improvements (reliability, waste, product quality, safety margin) to meet business needs.

  • Develop new insights and drive innovative engineering and processing solutions to reduce costs and improve process capability and quality.

  • Serve as primary resource to the operations and quality team for issues involving design, process changes and equipment modification by soliciting feedback and driving continuous improvement.

  • Develop working procedures/instructions and machine settings to maintain an optimal machine operation.

  • Support plant Quality needs in identifying quality defects and driving resolution both internally and with suppliers.

  • Supports the implementation of specific standardization, simplification and margin improvement projects.

  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with Colgate-Palmolive, local, state, and federal standards and guidelines related to Safety, Quality, and Regulatory.

  • Drive the company values and principles of managing with respect in all daily business affairs.

  • Work closely with a variety of other groups, including production, quality, maintenance and engineering as well as outside suppliers and consultants to achieve desired goals.

  • Collaborate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, procurement, and engineers on plant floor systems controls.

  • Integrates with Corporate IT and GIT to ensure alignment on information technology systems.

  • Engage stakeholders in design decisions to ensure projects satisfy quality, cost, service and EHS criteria and manage third party contractors and engineering design firms effectively.

  • Managing capital expenditure budgets and information technology equipment, maintenance, services and technician labor.

  • Continuous Improvement Focus (~25% of role)

  • Detailed Design / Internal Fabrication Support to drive Continuous Improvement (~25% of role)

  • Drive Process improvements through Mechanical Design & Machining

  • Prototyping wear parts and spare parts to increase MTBF

  • Capital & Non-Capital Project Management (~50% of role)

  • Other functions that may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field required.

  • Working knowledge of EOHS and Quality standards required.

  • Total of 4+ years of functional experience that includes cGMP manufacturing with an emphasis on project management/engineering from project concept through implementation as well as experience managing capital projects, budget and contractors required.

  • Must be proficient in Statistical Process Control, and Continuous Improvement Methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cGMP and IQ/OQ/PQ validation.

  • Knowledge of the CEB Capital Procurement preferred.

  • Electromechanical Controls Knowledge.

  • Non-Capital related process improvement changes.

  • Previous Kaizen Leadership & Lean Implementations.

  • LSSGB/LSSBB.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $94,000.00 - $133,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
