Project Manager Overview
The Project Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects across diverse technologies and market sectors. This role is accountable for managing the triple constraints of scope, time, and cost, while ensuring project objectives are met or exceeded. The Project Manager will build trusted client relationships, facilitate internal collaboration, and ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Custom Computer Specialists aligns with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and follows the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) framework. Our delivery approach is grounded in the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC), providing a structured yet adaptable framework that enables predictability, stakeholder engagement, and project success across varying client environments. Project Managers are expected to hold or actively pursue PMP certification.
Salary: $82,000 - $110,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead full project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closure.
- Maintain and report on project scope, schedule, budget, and risk mitigation plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for both internal and client stakeholders.
- Assign and manage resources to ensure projects are delivered within contractual obligations and profit targets.
- Track and manage resource utilization and project financials to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and margin targets.
- Facilitate client meetings, including kickoff, status, risk reviews, and close-out sessions.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans and documentation, including change orders and status reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance across project management systems and reporting tools.
- Drive timely issue escalation and resolution following project governance protocols.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, engineering, managed services, finance) to ensure operational alignment.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of monthly project accruals in coordination with the finance team. Track invoicing milestones and ensure timely billing in accordance with the SOW and project delivery schedule.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process changes, automation tools, or resource models that reduce delivery cycle time or increase profitability.
- Own internal and client-facing dashboards to ensure visibility of project progress, risks, and key metrics. Deliver weekly status reports tailored to both internal and client stakeholders and maintain transparency of financial performance by communicating contract budget burndown against scope.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex IT infrastructure and enterprise technology projects, including cloud services, network modernization, security initiatives, and system consolidations across diverse environments.
- Proven ability to lead matrixed teams and manage cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficient in project scheduling and financial tools (MS Project, Excel, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in client-facing environments.
- Experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, and risk mitigation, with a strong ability to align technical teams toward shared objectives.
- Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools.
- PMP certification preferred or in progress.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.

- Project Profitability - Maintain average gross margin 35% across assigned projects.
- On-Time Delivery - Complete 85% of projects on schedule, excluding documented external delays.
- Scope Compliance - Deliver 95% of projects within agreed scope, excluding approved change orders.
- Accruals and Invoicing - Submit accurate accruals monthly and ensure 100% of client invoices are issued within 5 business days of billing triggers.
- Process Optimization - Implement a minimum of two process or tool improvements annually that measurably impact efficiency, delivery speed, or financial outcomes. Target a 5% improvement over prior-year delivery cycle time and project gross margin.
- Data Integrity - Ensure complete and timely entry of timesheets and project data points.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Maintain effective relationships across departments and functions.
