Location Billings Montana Job Title Diesel Mechanic Heavy Duty Trucks and Equipment Company Interstate Power Systems We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty trucks and equipment at customer sites The ideal candidate will have expertise in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems with a strong commitment to safety quality and customer satisfaction This role requires participation in an on call rotation to provide emergency service support outside regular business hours Key Responsibilities Repairs and Maintenance Perform diagnostics repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy duty trucks and equipment including engines transmissions brakes hydraulic systems and electrical components at customer locationsTroubleshooting Identify and resolve complex mechanical electrical and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manualsOn Call Rotation Participate in the on call schedule to respond to emergency service requests ensuring timely and effective solutions to minimize customer downtimeCustomer Interaction Communicate professionally with customers to explain diagnoses repairs and maintenance procedures ensuring clear understanding and satisfactionDocumentation Complete detailed service reports including parts used labor hours and work performed adhering to company standards and proceduresSafety Compliance Follow all safety protocols and regulations including proper use of personal protective equipment PPE and adherence to OSHA and company safety standardsTool and Equipment Management Maintain and organize company provided tools equipment and service vehicles to ensure operational readinessContinuous Learning Stay updated on industry advancements manufacturer specifications and new equipment technologies through training and self studyQualifications Experience Minimum of 3 5 years of experience as a Service Technician or similar role working on heavy duty trucks and equipment eg construction agricultural or industrial machineryTechnical Skills Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines hydraulic systems electrical systems and drivetrains Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools eg Cummins INSITE CAT ET or similarCertifications Valid drivers license required; CDL Commercial Drivers License preferred ASE certifications or manufacturer specific certifications eg Cummins Caterpillar or Kenworth are a plusPhysical Requirements Ability to lift to 50 lbs work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing bending and standing for extended periodsAvailability Willingness to participate in an on call rotation including nights weekends and holidays as neededSoft Skills Strong problem solving skills attention to detail and excellent communication and customer service abilitiesEducation High school diploma or equivalent;
