SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing the activities of the Production Floor to achieve optimum safety, quality, cost, efficiency, machine utilization performance while assuring internal and external customer satisfaction.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure all production associates are effectively trained regarding the applicable quality/procedural requirements for their assigned tasks/activities; including applicable training for this position.

  • Lead and direct the activities and performance of the Production Floor to effectively support plant operations (i.e. quality, safety, efficiency, utilization, policies and procedures, etc.)

  • Act as first step facilitator in all issues involving hourly employees including employee complaints and accident investigations.

  • Ensure compliance to required schedule in assigned area.

  • Ensure conformance to process controls.

  • Provide required associate training and support On-the-job competency evaluations

  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Participate in process improvement activities for Production Floor and Kaizen events

  • Serve as a resource in plant investigation of customer problems/issues.

  • Interface with customers and suppliers as appropriate.

  • Oversee manning levels, staffing requirements, and assure compliance to budget.

  • Ensure communication throughout the Production Floor and other departments by maintaining crossover meeting integrity.

  • Interact with the Engineering Department on equipment tryouts, job configuration and standards.

  • Ensure that TS standards are being followed throughout the facility.

  • Oversee proper documentation response (i.e., process changes, SPC conditions, First/Last Shot/Part, 8D's, production numbers, etc.)

  • Participate in and suggest activities to achieve quality, productivity, scrap and cost reduction goals.

  • Oversee and adhere to all company missions, values, policies and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, etc.)

  • Oversee compliance to required OSHA, environmental and ergonomic regulations as well as all internal safety procedures.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas including: the production floor, machines, behind the plant, packing/WIP, and coordination at the press.

  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.

  • Supervision of all manufacturing personnel; and all non-manufacturing personnel.

  • Provide direction and leadership consistent with plant business plan goals.

  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.

  • Comply with all Techniplas Environmental Requirements and Policies

  • Report all Environmental incidents to immediate supervisor

  • Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisor responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and on production floor. Participation in events (trials, DOE, etc.) on the production floor is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-time position 1st 6:30am-3:30pm, 2nd 2:30pm-11:30pm, 3rd 10:30pm-7:30am., Monday-Friday, core work hours.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Previous experience working in a Plastic Injection Molding Facility is required, with 3-5 years highly preferred. Additional experience may substitute for the education requirement.
  • Previous Supervisory experience is highly preferred. Minimum of 3 years.
  • General knowledge of Plastics.
  • Must be experienced in mold set-ups, trouble shooting, and exposure to maintenance problems.
  • Work experience requiring a good working knowledge of manufacturing procedures, operating methods, and management practice.
  • Knowledge of quality and continuous improvements initiatives.
