ABOUT LPS PROJECTS GROUP:

The Lifecycle Performance Services Projects department, established in 2018, manages the implementation of projects under the Lifecycle Performance Services (LPS) division. Our focus is on improving the efficiency of our clients' sortation and distribution centers through optimizations, additions, retrofits, and upgrades. We have expertise in various equipment including automated sorters, singulators, gappers, extendable conveyors, and transport conveyors. Our projects range from small equipment replacements to full subsystem installations. We serve a diverse range of companies in the logistics and warehouse distribution/fulfillment industries.

Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer II at Fortna, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development, and implementation of material handling systems. You will independently perform moderately complex engineering assignments, contribute to larger project teams, and begin to lead small-scale efforts. This role requires strong foundational knowledge in mechanical design, a growing understanding of automated systems, and the ability to interface with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to mechanical design and layout for conveyor and automation systems using AutoCAD and Fortna's proprietary 3D design tools.
  • Support Requirements Engineering and Detail Design phases including equipment specification, BOM development, and supplier coordination.
  • Participate in design reviews, assist with drawing QA/QC processes, and help prepare engineering documentation.
  • Assist with supplier selection, RFQs, and scorecard development.
  • Conduct site visits to gather field dimensions and validate system requirements.
  • Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Communicate progress to engineering leads and document project updates and challenges.
  • Follow engineering standards and contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, Site Managers, and Client stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent: 5+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with MS Office tools (Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with material handling systems and conveyor equipment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel (10-20%) for project support.

The base salary range for this role is $66,100 to $99,200. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
