Are you a seasoned Transportation Engineer looking for a leadership opportunity in a dynamic and collaborative environment? Thompson & Litton, a trusted multi-office Engineering & Architecture firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to join our Bristol, Tennessee office.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a design team on roadway and transportation infrastructure projects for DOTs and local municipalities.
  • Oversee the engineering and planning of highway design, traffic management, safety improvements, and maintenance of traffic projects.
  • Prepare drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications, while performing quality control reviews.
  • Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including RFQs, RFPs, and SOQs.
  • Serve as a senior technical expert, supporting projects across Tennessee, Virginia, and the broader tri-state region.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee, Virginia, or a state with reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of experience in roadway design and transportation engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations, specifications, and standards.
  • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in traffic & transportation design, land development, stormwater management, and erosion control.
  • Familiarity with Virginia stormwater regulations.
  • Strong leadership potential with aspirations for higher-level roles.
