About the Role:
The Saw Operator (Sawtrim) is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of saws used to cut pallet components according to required specifications. This role ensures all pallet parts meet quality and safety standards while supporting smooth and timely production. Success in this role requires precision, technical knowledge, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to collaborate with team members in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Required Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience in pallet repair, woodworking, or construction (preferred).
Experience operating saws and basic mechanical equipment (preferred).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting.
Strong attention to detail and ability to detect wood defects.
High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Equivalent work experience or on-the-job training will be considered.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Repeated lifting, pushing, and pulling of 50 lbs. or more throughout the shift.
Work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
Occasional off-site work or travel may be required based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
Operate specific or multiple types of saws to cut or trim wood to exact dimensions.
Perform cuts with precision by adjusting blades, speed, and cutting techniques.
Inspect and measure pallet components for quality and cut accuracy.
Sort and stack cut materials into designated staging areas.
Meet or exceed daily production goals.
Perform daily equipment inspections and routine upkeep to maintain safe operation.
Identify wood types and grades and ensure proper material use.
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area to reduce accidents and ensure compliance.
Escalate equipment or process issues to supervisors promptly.
Support and collaborate with facility team members.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
