Job Summary:

Caterpillars Resource Industries, Wheeled Products Engineering, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to work in the Peoria, Illinois area. The highly valued role will be a member of the Resource Industries Cab System Team.

This position will lead a team of Caterpillar and Contract engineers to provide cab system designs for Large Mining Trucks, by working project related to New Product Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, Quality, and maintenance. The successful candidate will have the skills to lead a diverse group of people to achieve common goals. Strong communication and organizational skills are required for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Large Mining Truck Operator Station design projects from concept through production and provide support throughout the product lifecycle.
Overseeing project progress, cost, and quality; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
Support quality improvement initiatives for existing machine fleets and implement factory enhancements.
Contribute to aftermarket growth and cost-reduction projects.
Translate machine application needs into clear system and component requirements.
Stay current with emerging operator station technologies and identify innovations that offer competitive advantages.

Degree Requirement:

Requires bachelors degree in an accredited Mechanical Engineering curriculum.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Extensive Caterpillar Cab System Design Experience
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers to specify and select components
  • Demonstrated project leadership capability

What Skills You Will have:

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
Understanding of major cab systems on mobile construction or mining equipment including braking, steering, implement, etc.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Demonstrated ability to work well in collaborative environment and to communicate effectively in global cross functional teams

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Level Extensive Experience:
Experience in cab system or component design

Additional Information:
Location: Mossville, IL (AC)
Domestic relocation is available to those who qualify.

This position may require less than 10% travel (international & domestic).

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
