Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Structural Engineer experienced in the practice of engineering within an industrial or chemical plant environment. The role involves evaluating existing structures, designing modifications to existing facilities, and supporting piping, lifting, and rigging of industrial equipment. You will analyze portions of existing structures to assess their capability to accommodate unanticipated loads, and help design rigging plans, which will be handed off to our drafting and design team. The position offers opportunities for optimization work, including boiler design, equipment supports, and piping supports for new equipment design, working as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing structures and design modifications to existing facilities.
  • Support piping, lifting, and rigging of industrial equipment.
  • Analyze portions of existing structures to determine load capacities.
  • Assist in designing rigging plans for equipment.
  • Collaborate with the drafting and design team for plan handoffs.
  • Engage in optimization work for boiler design and equipment supports.
  • Work as a member of a project team.
Essential Skills
  • Structural engineering and design experience.
  • Experience with structural steel.
  • Industrial project experience.
  • Degree in structural engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Staadpro and Mathcad software preferred.
  • PE license is a plus.
  • Experience with structural concrete and seismic design.
  • Familiarity with MathCAD, STAAD Pro, and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Knowledge of design codes such as AISC (ASD, LRFD) and ACI.
Work Environment

The position requires onsite work at an industrial plant in a power plant environment, with a weekly schedule from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. It is necessary to obtain DOE security clearance. The project duration is 18-24 months, with potential for conversion to a permanent role. A relocation package is offered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr.
