Structural Engineer: Commercial Construction

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join a commercial construction team in the Miami, FL metro area. This role is critical in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and compliance of our commercial building projects. You will work closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to design and evaluate structural systems that meet both regulatory standards and client expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Design and analyze structural systems for commercial buildings including foundations, steel frames, concrete structures, and load-bearing elements
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance during construction
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals
• Investigate structural failures or issues and recommend corrective actions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering for commercial construction projects
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro) and AutoCAD or Revit
• Strong understanding of building codes (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC)
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills
