The Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc ( www.ara.com ) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Drafter working in our Madison, AL facility. The Drafter will provide innovative computer-aided design and drawings based on engineering sketches and proposal specifications. This will include design, development, evaluation, and modification of systems and system-oriented products. This position will require a detail-oriented individual to digitize, edit, and revise engineering drawings of components, parts, circuits, structures and/or assemblies. Under general supervision, will collaborate with the drafting and engineering team to understand and interpret their design concepts, sketches, and technical specifications.
Drafter Must Haves:
- High School diploma (or equivalent) plus advanced training and 2+ years of relevant experience
- Possess a strong working knowledge of Solidworks and features in Solidworks drawings environment
- Experience in producing a drawing package which includes knowledge of drafting techniques, workflow processes, required drawing contents, and dimensioning and tolerancing
- Strong attention to detail and precision in translating designs into accurate technical specifications
- Capable of performing basic to intermediate drafting techniques with intermediate knowledge of practical fabrication techniques
- Ability to gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as BOMs, product/material data sheets and engineering design changes
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering, design, and production teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges
- A passion for staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies
- Self-motivated with the ability to work proactively and achieve results without close supervision
- Innovative and creative thinker, results oriented problem-solver, with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required
- Ability to sit &/or stand for long periods of time, stand, sit, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, hold and move items with hand, multilimbed coordination, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, push and pull and lifting 50lbs independently, and over 50lbs with assistance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
- Be a U.S. Citizen
This will “WOW” us if you have the following:
- Active / current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of Defense
- Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards
- Working knowledge of Solidworks Surfacing
