Job Description

Invent, implement and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning and/or specific domain industry algorithms and systems. Build prototypes and explore conceptually new solutions. Work collaboratively with science, engineering, and product teams to identify customer needs in order to create and implement solutions, promote innovation and drive model implementations. Applies data science capabilities and research findings to create and implement solutions to scale. Responsible for developing new intelligence around core products and services through applied research on behalf of our customers. Develops models, prototypes, and experiments that pave the way for innovative products and services. Build cloud services that work out of the box for enterprises, e.g. decision support, anomaly detection, forecasting and recommendations), natural language processing (NLP), Natural Language Understanding (NLU),Time Series, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Machine Learning (ML), and Computer Vision (CV). Design and run experiments, research new algorithms, and find new ways of optimizing risk, profitability, and customer experience. Conversant on ethical problems in consideration of sciences.

Responsibilities

Drives Data & AI Platform applied science execution. Leads integration, alignment, and execution of strategies and plans at the highest level. Provides scientific and technical leadership and guidance to implement research direction to production. Works on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies. Focus on review, design, technical vision, and science practices for the entire organization. Influence spans across multiple lines of businesses. Work with engineering, product management and senior management to set direction for Oracle's AI efforts. Partner with engineering and product management leaders to deliver new services and features that leverage machine learning and deep learning. Defines the bar for engineering practices and ops practices, and helps teams achieve those goals. Hires and mentors across the org. Perform an active role in team planning, review and retrospective events. Identifies and mitigates risks across our full set of systems, particularly at the intersection of business and engineering. Collaborates with Oracle's technical partners on long-term strategy. Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics or a related field with a dissertation, thesis or final project centered in Machine Learning Techniques OR Masters or Bachelor's in one or more of these fields. Minimum 8 years work experience in the areas of machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing or data mining with a PhD OR 12+ years experience with a Master's or Bachelor's. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in successfully designing and shipping models. Examples include using machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling across different data domains and modalities. Thought leader in next generation of modeling technology coupled with domain expertise. Experience includes successfully influencing strategy and product roadmaps to an executive-level decision maker. Significant experience in deploying scalable solutions to complex problems, from defining the problem, implementing the solution, and launching the new product successfully. Acknowledged expert in the field, uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Demonstrated ability to map academic solutions to identify, prioritize and solve complex, difficult customer and business problems and bring them to production. Experience with leadership of experienced scientists, as well as developing early in career scientists from academia/industry to a career track in a business environment. Training machine learning models with large scale data using techniques such as data and model parallels. Strong presence and active contributor to industry and/or academia, which may include publishing in top-tier journals and/or conferences. Strong publication record, including lead author or reviewer, in top-tier journals and/or conferences. Experience running a lab and/or research groups. Depending on the job there may be additional minimum requirements and/or preferred qualifications.
