Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Carpenter II.

Work in this class involves the performance of level II carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings, or in fabricating and repairing a variety of wooden articles and equipment. This position will be required to complete a wide variety of work assignments using established carpentry, cabinetry, countertops and furniture trade practices from start to finish construction. Routinely, this position will be required to design, build, repair and install custom cabinetry, countertops and furniture to meet specific facility requests. This position will also receive work assignments consisting of but not limited to concrete and masonry related tasks. Multiple other trades work assignments may be received from the supervisor and are usually accompanied by sketches, specifications, work orders or oral instructions; however, an employee in this class is required to perform work in accordance with established trade practices. New or unusual work assignments are accompanied by detailed drawings or oral instructions, and any irregular or difficult work problems are resolved through discussion with the foreman. Work is reviewed by a superior through inspection of completed work for quality and compliance with work orders.

Monday - Friday / 1st shift (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM), work schedule may vary and include evening, weekend, holiday, and emergency hours

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

  • The selected applicant should have adequate knowledge of the building/renovation practices including established methods of carpentry trade

  • Possess common knowledge of tools and materials required for task and ability to follow written, sketched or verbal instructions

  • Prefer candidate to have ability to assist Facility Engineering as requested with a wide range of associated task

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of experience in the construction or remodeling of wooden structures or in furniture repair or construction.
