Expanded Learning Time (ELT) Site Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Expanded Learning (ELT) Site Coordinator is responsible for the planning, supervision, and implementation of high-quality before and after-school programming for Framingham Public Schools students in grades K-5. Through a collaborative effort with school leaders, community partners, families, and students, the ELT Site Coordinator will be responsible for managing a high-quality OST program experience that complements students’ school day learning through academically enriching activities with a strong focus on hands-on, project-based learning.

Specifically, the Site Coordinator will be responsible for managing and supporting staff, coordinating with external community partners, overseeing daily operations, addressing medical, behavioral, and other student needs, planning community events and field trips, and all other responsibilities pertaining to overseeing a complex, multifaceted out-of-school-time program.

This position requires a candidate who effectively interacts with others in person, is committed to equity and access, understands the need for teamwork, timeliness and safety, is flexible and able to respond to changing priorities, new job assignments and interruptions, and who must be able to assume responsibility for routine decisions in the absence of an immediate supervisor.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching license and SEI Endorsement preferred
  • Specialization/licensure in Special Education and/or ESL preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field preferred
  • Multilingual capacity in Spanish and/or Portuguese strongly preferred

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an out-of-school-time professional or educator in a school or community-based setting required
  • At least 1 year of administrative experience overseeing programmatic operations for student-serving programming required
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of effective youth development and OST principles, practices, and trends required.
  • Experience with program and curriculum design, development, implementation, and continuous programmatic improvement in educational settings is required
  • Experience working with children and adults from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds is required
  • Experience supervising, evaluating, and coaching staff required
  • Awareness and experience with public school educational policies, systems, and practices strongly preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Program Operations

  • Design and oversee daily programmatic schedule in compliance with EEC staffing ratios and requirements
  • Respond to and document all injuries and incidents on site in accordance with EEC and district policy.
  • Oversee the site’s budget, purchasing, and supply management
  • Coordinate with the school nurse to plan for student health needs, and oversee the documentation and delivery of all medication in accordance with DESE and EEC requirements
  • Coordinate snacks and meals, attendance tracking, student rosters, and fee collection
  • Manage and submit weekly staff payroll and ensure accurate daily timekeeping
  • Attend monthly meetings with building leadership to address building and logistical concerns collaboratively
  • Oversee compliance with all other relevant departmental, district, and EEC policies/procedures not listed above

Family, Youth and Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point person for day-to-day caregiver questions and concerns.
  • Plan and host events, workshops, and showcases to engage families intentionally
  • Oversee the recruitment of students by promoting program offerings through multiple channels, including but not limited to social media campaigns, weekly newsletters, classroom visits, attending community outreach events, and collaborating with relevant school leaders to ensure full program enrollment.
  • Connect caregivers as needed with internal and external resources and services, including vouchers and scholarships.
  • Provide authentic opportunities for youth to inform the design and implementation of program activities as appropriate.

Staff Coaching and Supervision

  • Hire, onboard and directly supervise all site staff, including AM Program Lead, and cover their role in their absence.
  • Support staff development through regular meetings, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Assist with new staff orientation and onboarding in collaboration with the Department of Expanded Learning Time.
  • Ensure a positive and productive working environment for all staff by facilitating open lines of communication, implementing restorative approaches to conflict resolution, and modeling the highest standards of behavior in accordance with FPS policy.

Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Collaborate with Group Leaders to design and document project-based enrichment curriculum in accordance with district and department expectations.
  • Meet with relevant school day staff,f such as instructional coaches and classroom teachers, to identify shared educational priorities for participating students, including attending school SST meetings and IEP meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership to embed the extension of school day curriculum content during out-of-school-time activities.
  • Develop and facilitate programming for special programs, including early release days, vacation weeks, summer learning programs, and school closure days.

Evaluation and Program Improvement

  • Evaluate programming using validated program assessment tools such as the SAYO-S and APT-O, as well as student, family, and staff surveys to ensure that youth are participating in a quality learning experience.e
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on program activities, outcomes, and trends as requested.
  • Use data analysis to identify areas for program improvement and inform decision-making processes.
  • Oversee the execution of project activities to ensure alignment with organizational objective.s

In addition, Site Coordinators are expected to perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Expanded Learning Time.

  • In the classroom, must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction;
  • Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties;
  • May be required to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces;
  • Working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise;
  • Must interact with students, parents, and other staff members;
  • Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children throughout the day;
  • Is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students;
  • Must be able to interact with students, parents, and other staff members and occasionally must meet multiple demands from several people;
  • While the majority of the workday is spent inside, must spend time outdoors for recess, fire drills, and special activities;
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens;
  • May receive unintentional injuries from aggressive students; and
  • May be required some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
  • May provide limited personal care to students.
  • Must occasionally lift or position students to provide services.
  • May be exposed to volatile and assaultive behavior.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and/or push a wheelchair for extended periods of time as well as provide assistance and personal care to students.
  • May be asked to assist with toileting, depending on a student's needs.
  • May be transferred to a different school depending on students' needs and fit in the best interest of children; and

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Per the School Committee Policy. Twelve-Month position (35 hours per week)
  • Benefits include medical, dental, pet insurance, life insurance, option 403(b) investment, and 20 days of paid vacation.
  • Working hours during the school year are 10am - 6pm, including a one-hour unpaid lunch. Please note that 2 days per month of supervision of the AM Program from 7-9 am is also required to ensure program compliance. Schedule during “special programming” varies based on needs.
