Job Description:

In this role, you will lead manufacturing operations, engineering, test engineering, and possibly maintenance. You will collaborate with other staff functions (facilities, quality, planning, supply chain, logistics, etc.,) to achieve plant target output, cost, quality, yield and service objectives while meeting all safety, health, and environmental requirements. You will work with planning and the BU on scheduling/loading and capacity planning. As Operations Leader, you will be looked to for guidance and direction by all operations personnel in your assigned facility. Your job is to lead, coach, mentor, influence your team to attain operational factory goals, BU goals, Systems Operations goals, and ultimately Microchip Corporate goals while aligning to the Microchip Guiding values.

As the Operations Leader, you are expected to:

  • Manage staffing, scheduling and factory efficiency to meet operational goals.
  • Establish and maintain continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, yield and cost.
  • Assure manufacturing capability and performance improvement in support of business unit, corporate, and manufacturing strategies.
  • Identify and implement capital equipment needs.
  • Maintain and assure the efficient operation of all plant assets and equipment.
  • Provide focus and direction to plant personnel to assure knowledge and support of plant manufacturing priorities and requirements.
  • Follow and drive ISO: 9001 controls and processes
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Assure growth in talent and capability of the plant operations staff.
  • Build effective relationships within the business, functional support groups, corporate support organizations, and with key customers and suppliers where required.
  • Support Focus Factory, Factory Certification, BPMS, 6S, lean 100, and other corporate System Operations manufacturing initiatives as required.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Progressive responsibilities in operations and/or engineering leadership, including operations or engineering department supervisor experience.
  • Experience in leading teams and departments in meeting continuous improvement goals through system RCCA methodologies and tools, step-change performance improvements, innovation, expanding technical capability, work redesign or other change efforts.
  • Experience coordinating activities within functional responsibility and collaborating with other groups to achieve results.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing processes for assembly, test, and integration of electromechanical subsystems and components.
  • Track record of developing/farming talent.
  • Leadership presence good communication skills, decisive, collaborative, engendering trust and demonstrating credibility.
  • Ability to clearly communicate progress and metrics to Microchip management teams via standard office software tools such as MS Power Point and MS Excel

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal / written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team building skills necessary to lead a multi-disciplined team.
  • Experience with new product introductions and the design hand off to manufacturing process with focus on manufacturability.
  • Understanding principles of Lean Manufacturing and six-sigma and how to effectively utilize the selected tools.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with materials planning process forecast, SIOP, MRP, Build plan, MPS, WO execution, Lean MFG.
  • Familiarity with manufacture and testing of RF and Microwave products a plus.
  • General knowledge of fabrication technologies; brazing, welding, machining, EDM, die bonding, wafer fabrication, vacuum processing, torqueing, soldering, de-solder, SMT/Thru hole, box-build, cable.
  • Experience in staff or project roles such as Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, or a project assignment.
  • Familiarity with Factory 4.0 and the IoT impact to manufacturing operations globally ability to develop a vision for the future of our factory and lead a journey to attain that vision and make it a reality.
  • Demonstrated understanding and working towards alignment with Microchip Guiding Values.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred fields but not limited to: Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations Management) or equivalent education and experience
  • Masters degree in Business Administration is a plus

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Standard business hours, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Salaried position expects support of off-hour emergencies, meetings and the flexibility to support international time zones for staff meetings and integration/collaboration projects.
