The Project Coordinator supports the Campus Planning team by coordinating and managing multiple construction and renovation projects across campus. Responsibilities include tracking project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and maintaining accurate documentation from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Basic understanding of current construction practices, methods, and materials.
  • Coordinate multiple projects for the planning office and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating, managing, and supervising new buildings, renovation, and equipment replacement projects to meet established timelines and budgets.
  • Assist with scheduling project deadlines and quality assurance.
  • Basic knowledge of building codes. Ability to research or consult with the planning office specific building code and regulatory questions.
  • General knowledge of building systems and how they operate.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Basic knowledge of warranties and conditions which invalidate those warranties.
  • Knowledge of techniques for construction scheduling.
  • Knowledge of construction site administration.
  • Create and distribute project meeting minutes.
  • Assists in defining project guidelines, requirements, design/construction criteria and budgets.
  • Coordinates design and construction efforts among user groups, the operations and maintenance team, the design team and the construction team.
  • Coordinates review of design documents by staff, user groups and regulatory officials.
  • Provides regular project updates and status reports to staff.
  • Collects required close-out documentation, complete project close-out, and conducts post-project evaluations.
  • Assists with record keeping and project file management.
  • Validate current facility floor plans, update, and maintain as current.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Five years of experience in management of institutional/commercial construction projects, extensive knowledge of building codes and building systems operation and design OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training and professional certifications.

  • Must be able to work independently with clients to develop creative solutions and implement the plan.
  • Must also be able to successfully utilize all methods of communication to communicate clearly, regularly and effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with Smartsheets, Procore, Blu Beam Revu, and/or Auto CAD preferred.
  • Ability to oversee the work of contractors to ensure adherence to the contract and University policies related to such work.
  • A Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing Engineering degree is a plus.
