About Senior Mechanic:
Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of light and heavy equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and climate control systems. Performs welding and fabrication, completes service documentation, and maintains a clean and organized shop.
- Diagnoses and repairs engine, transmission, drivetrain, brake, and cooling system issues on both gas and diesel equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, including lighting, starters, alternators, and onboard electronics.
- Services and repairs air conditioning and heating systems in a variety of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains and repairs hydraulic pumps, cylinders, hoses, and related systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs fuel injection systems and replace fuel pumps as needed.
- Performs welding and fabrication for structural repairs or part modification both in-shop and on-site.
- Installs and maintains snow removal equipment including plows, wings, and sanders.
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Maintains accurate service records, completes work orders, and tracks labor and parts used in repairs.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment; assists with shop upkeep and inventory management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of pickups, heavy trucks and construction equipment required.
- Must possess a valid state of Iowa Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake, manual transmission or tractor-trailer restrictions and a tank endorsement. Or possession of Class A CDL and the ability to pass air brake, manual transmission, tractor-trailer restrictions and a tank endorsement within 90 days of transfer or hire into the position.
