Capital Project Engineer

Support projects from conception, through development, planning, staging, and execution using the Front End Loading (FEL) process. This role includes working closely with internal SunCoke clients such as the Operations, Technology, Engineering, Environmental, Commercial, Procurement, and Construction teams; Demonstrating core engineering competencies while leveraging internal and third-party support; Identifying economic and robust solutions to identified issues; Formulating the supporting business case and financials consistent with income potential and capital costs estimates; Representing SunCokes interests during FEL process by optimizing project costs, adhering to development timelines, and delivering project objectives.

Support individuals involved in producing technical specifications, drawing packages, schedules, estimates and capital budgets where required

Travel as required to support the organization

Responsibilities:

Compile documentation for assigned projects, including but not limited to:

oEngineering Drawings (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, EI&C, Process, etc)

oSpecifications

oData for analysis in aiding the decision making for the required process

oProcess information including description, changes, etc.

oPhotos of the project area and subject matter

oAs-Built Documentation regarding the project, if information is not available it is the engineers responsibility to perform this task and assemble all knowledge of the project information.

Preparing all documents to form a cohesive package that can be used for internal documentation purposes (STEP & FEL Processes) and external (RFQ, Work Scope Packages, PEP, Constructability reviews, Risk reviews and alternative solutions etc).

Assist in preparing a schedule for execution of each project/task assigned. Schedule should be high level showing strategic milestones from the start of engineering to the close of commissioning and operation.

Monitor compliance with all applicable specifications (SunCoke and others), codes (relevant codes), practices, QA/QC requirements (applicable to each job), local, state and federal guidelines including OSHA and EPA.

Assist in gathering cost information relevant to the project including but not limited to:

oEngineering Costs, Equipment Costs, Construction Cost, Commissioning Cost, SunCoke Owner Costs (personnel, EPOC, etc.)

Skills and Requirements

BS in Engineering or other related field.

5+ years in related industry

Working knowledge of project controls, project management, scheduling, risk analysis, constructability reviews, construction, and start-up.

Technical background in an industrial setting

Experience completing business case analysis

Working knowledge of capital projects and FEL engineering PMP and project management experience

Experience preferred in heavy industrial environments requiring frequent capital expenditures

Experience with heavy machinery and thermal processing a plus

Electrical engineer background null
