POSITION TITLE: Laborer II
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Laborer II to join our wireline team and provide basic level manual laborer. This position will assist in the installation of fiber optic cable for various telecommunication projects. This is an ideal position for someone looking to grow their career in the utility construction industry. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides mid-level laborer functions including hand digging with a shovel, setting up traffic control, entry level equipment operations, placing fiber, loading materials, etc. on various safety sensitive utility construction sites
Proficient with utility print and map reading
Has performed at least 6 months of independent operating of various equipment (directional drill, mini, plow, hydro, etc.); knows all safety regulations with basic operating skills
Supports the setup and shut down of utility construction projects including traffic control in various conditions including highways, side streets, parking lots, downtown locations, etc.
Safety is the expectation, always follows the required safety practices while performing safety sensitive duties
Trains alongside experience construction crews learning fiber installation, print reading, equipment operations, OSHA requirements, etc.
Loads and unloads materials and equipment in from vehicles at construction yards and jobsites
Acts as right hand to the Foreman, leads by example, ensures safety rules/regulations are followed, and can lead others on jobsites
Performs OTJ training to become an experienced operating and ultimately grow into a Foreman role
Assists in identifying hazards by utilizing the pre-task process
Performs other position duties when requested

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
Regular exposure to all weather conditions including hot, humid, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc.
When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1+ year of utility construction experience required
6+ months of heavy equipment operations required (Hydro, Drill, Mini, Plow)
Valid driver license with a clean driving record required
CDL License (or the ability to obtain) required
High School Diploma or equivalent required

The starting pay for this position is $24/hr and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
