Job Description This position is responsible for inspecting a wide variety of parts, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and materials to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications, and quality standards. Under limited supervision, the role involves maintaining, processing, and compiling confidential and sensitive reports, records, and statistics. Assignments are typically non-routine, requiring judgment and assessment to resolve moderately complex issues. Inspections may be conducted at customer or vendor sites. Responsibilities
- Inspect parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines such as Military Standards, ASTM, ANSI, and the person Code.
- Provide various electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notify appropriate parties, including project engineers.
- Observe testing and provide oversight, as necessary, to verify compliance with requirements.
- Utilize hand gages and automated gaging for inspections.
- Use SAP systems daily to support Quality Department inspection activities.
- Complete First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with SAE AS9102 requirements.
- Interact with and respond to regulatory agencies and customers during audits and review of company inspection activities.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- 5+ years of hands-on inspection experience
- Proficiency in electrical inspection, quality control, and quality assurance
- Knowledge of wiring, troubleshooting, installation, and large assemblies
- Prior certification in IPC 620, IPC 610, and J-STD
- Proficient computer skills, including SAP and documentation
- Experience in first article inspection and manufacturing
- Familiarity with PCBA
- Associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections
- Certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS
- Three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical inspection
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
- Good communication skills to interface with all levels of employees
- Ability to interpret complex information and respond to various issues
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001 desirable
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, DOD quality assurance program requirements desirable
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Adaptability to various working conditions such as heights, high voltage electricity, or radioactive materials
