Mechanic/Yard Operator

Purpose/Summary:

Under supervision of service center manager, this person performs complete repair of intermodal chassis, as well as move chassis in the facility by using heavy lift equipment and yard tractor and handle ingate and out-gate activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Has the knowledge to complete all repairs on intermodal chassis including:

• Complete brake jobs
• Electrical systems
• Air systems
• Landing legs

All structural repairs that require welding and using a torch Conduct FMCSA & BIT safety inspections.

• Drive heavy lift and yard tractor as required to support repair shop and yard operations.
• Perform in-gate and out-gate moves using the gate app
• Perform ingate inspections to identify any damages/repairs required.

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Ability to read and understand work order
• Ability to operate a welding machine and cutting torch
• Ability to identify parts need for repairs
• Ability to work to company standards with normal supervision
• Safe working habits
• Attention to quality
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements
• Punctual and reliable work attendance
• Minimum 3 years experience as a heavy lift operator
• Functional experience: stacking intermodal chassis
• Functional experience: driving yard tractor

Education Level: Some high school education
